UCSB Mens Soccer vs. Mexico U-20

With the international flavor in the air again, the Gauchos and U20 Mexico battled to a stalemate through regulation. So when your tied, you got to go to penalty kicks and that is where Mexico defeated the 'Chos 1-1 (3-1 pk).

The Gauchos were coming off an exhibition win over Westmont 3-1 and looked to get another exhibition win. It started off well for the Gauchos as they got numerous chances on goal in the early going. Then in the 31st minute the Gauchos struck first as Luis Silva passed it to Michael Tetteh who struck a laser on the ground that got past the goal keeper. The tortillas were on the field and you knew it was a good time to be a Gaucho.

Then when Mexico needed a score, they got one. In the 42nd minute off of a corner kick, the ball bounced around until it found Alan Izaguirre who put it in the back of the net.

The game was very physical with the 18 fouls for El Tri and 22 for the boys from I.V.

The Gauchos next game is September, 1st as they take on Cal-State Bakersfield in their regular season opener. Tickets are available at ucsbgauchos.cstv.com
